I want to share a story about someone truly special - Michelle. I first met Michelle at the stables during one of those perfect summer days, sitting in the field watching the horses and the world go by. There was something instantly calming about being around her - her gentle nature and kind smile made it clear she was a genuinely amazing person. I feel so lucky to have been graced with her presence.
Right now, Michelle is facing one of life’s toughest battles. On the 5th June 2025, Michelle was diagnosed with breast cancer, after finding a lump in her breast and seeking help from her GP. Since then, she has had a full body CT scan, around 6 biopsies, an MRI, 3 coil markers and many hospital appointments. Now, Michelle is currently undergoing chemotherapy as she fights breast cancer. For anyone who’s been through it or knows someone who has, you’ll understand how intense this journey can be - not just physically, but mentally and emotionally too. Chemotherapy takes a toll on the body and disrupts daily life in ways that are hard to put into words.
Before her diagnosis, Michelle was a self-employed nail artist, passionate about her craft and building relationships with her clients. Being self-employed comes with its own set of challenges, but Michelle thrived in her work. Unfortunately, with treatment taking up so much of her time and energy, it’s become nearly impossible for her to keep up with her business. This has understandably put a strain on her finances.
It’s a difficult situation that many self-employed people facing health challenges find themselves in - no steady wage slip, no sick leave, just the uncertainty of how to manage expenses while focusing on getting better. For Michelle, this means juggling the physical and emotional weight of chemotherapy alongside the financial pressures that come with it.
Despite everything, Michelle carries on with a quiet resilience. She doesn’t ask for much, but she deserves all the support we can give. She’s the kind of person who lights up a room without even trying, and her strength in the face of adversity is something to be admired.
This is why I’m reaching out to you.
Michelle has a GoFundMe set up to help ease some of the financial burdens she and her family are experiencing. Any contribution, no matter how small, would go a long way toward helping her regain some sense of normality in these incredibly tough times. Funds will help cover her day-to-day costs, and provide some peace of mind while she focuses on what really matters.. her health.
Sharing Michelle’s story is more than just telling you about her struggle. It’s about community, about coming together to support someone who has given so much kindness and positivity to those around her. It’s about acknowledging how life can change in an instant and how, with a little help, we can all make a difference.
I consider myself lucky to have met Michelle and to witness first hand her strength and grace. Her journey is ongoing, and like many, she needs all the support she can get right now.
Thank you for taking the time to read about Michelle. If you can spare a few moments to donate, share her story or simply send some positive thoughts her way, it would mean the world to her.
Together, we can help Michelle face this fight with a little less worry and a lot more hope.
